Default Head gasket solution for genuine 650bhp

Hi all,

Which head gasket and bolts can safely handle 650bhp

I have tried with, shimmed block and cylinder head with 3 layer cometic and ARP, the engine has run 410bhp i 4 years fine, but after an upgrade to 650bhp, the gasket gives up above 500bhp, air i the water.

Please only answer if you have experience with this or have tried it yourself.

Assuming you are using a 200 block; is it long studded, or are you using the short ARP head studs?

With regards to the headgasket; i am trying to remember the headgasket MadRod uses in his 800+hp motor.

From my memory, im sure it was the WRC gasket however Mark had to adjust the timing to keep cylinder pressures down.

4 layer wrc gasket, it`s much better than 3 layer one, or you can o-ring your block

We went back to a WRC gasket after failure of a Cometic gasket.
We decided against using 120ron fuel because it would take so much more ignition that cylinder pressures were too high for safety. Its a real compromise at these levels.

10 long studs and wire ringed, worked perfect on my engine with 767hp.

Which of theese two solutions are the most bullitproof ?
10 long studs from mike rainbird and Mountune 4-layers WRC gasket
or
Long studs from Reyland and Mountune 4-layers WRC gasket?

My piston CR is 7,5:1 and I'm concidering bying a new set of pistons in CR 8,5:1 so I won't need as aggressive ignition map......

The best pump fuel we have in Denmark is Shell V-Power 99 ron

i know reyland long studs use a smaller bolt top so you can get a smaller socket to torque them up

i'm not sure if Mike's is the same

send Martin a PM on here

if buying new pistons; i would go with CP pistons as the manufacture
