Default noise from focus 1.6

i bought my focus 1.6 3yrs ago its a y reg model it was ok for the first 6 months and after that come along a noise when you go over a bump or turn the steering its a weird knocking noise and you can hear it from inside the car.over the yrs ive change the steering rack, front shocks, bearing cups that sit on the springs, wish bones, track rod ends, tie bars from shocker to anti roll bar, anti roll bar bushes, and quiet frankly im running out of ideas.the noise doesnt even show up at mots, the noise isnt constant but when it does its annoying and carnt think of anything else at all what it can be.has anyone had any similar experiences or have ideas that i can try

if its from the front, i would say it was the drop links/anti roll bar links.
these are fairly common for knocking. check for play in the ball joints of the links.
have you fitted the standard steel ones? as there is a modified alloy type.

it knocks both ways, its not a hard knocking sound just a light one.and does it if you go over a bump.the tie bars are metal not alloy,i replace the tie bars thinking that might be the problem but it still persists

Pedal box!! Very common fault on the focus. Its the clutch/brake pedal mechanism that bolts to the bulkhead. Ford will want to replace it, however all you need to do is slacken off the 4 nuts that fix it to the bulkhead, pack grease behind and retighten nuts

Yeah its kinda when it all flexes a bit, it does move and creaks. Its a very very common problem on the focus, and its such a simple fix, gotta be worth a try!

As RichieST posted above, it is the pedal box bracket creaking against the bulkhead. (firewall)

If you remove the lower part of the dash, and look at the pedal assembly you will see a number of 13mm nuts that secure the pedal box to the bulkhead, loosen all these off so you can move the pedal box bracket away from the bulkhead slightly, get some grease behind there then tighten all the bolts up. Usually cures them.
