Default starting problems

I thought I post a problem that I have since I own a cosworth.
It wont start at the first try. When the engine is cold and you try to start, it will crank until the battery dies but it wont start at all. At the 2nd attempt it starts, but runnin on 2 or 3 cylinder and after a few second its runnin on all 4 or it dies again. And on the 3rd attempt it starts right at the button.
And that happens everytime the engine is cold.

The strange thing is, I had the same problem in my Escos!!

I would rig up a light to the fuel pump to see if that is being triggered, either that or power it direct next time it is cold, so you can rule that out if it's the same.

I would also bet on the wireing, cos sensor changed and stil the same. But if I measure the wires from ecu to sensor everthing seems ok...

Maybe I`ll change it again, cos hat the problems with my icv, was new and fooked.

thought I dig out this old thread, cos I have finally solved the problem

After changed and tested every sensor and wire in the car I`ve found the problem now.

It was the chip....have it changed now for an MSD one and it starts at the first turn of the key!!!
I think the old one wasnt developed right, cos I uses a lot of fuel, around 12liter at 100km.
Thought it was right, but in the last few days i managed 9,5 at 100km
