Mixture Screw
Went to adjust the mixture on the metering unit and it looks like the hole for the allen key has rusted away
is there anyway of replacing or repairing, or is it just a new metering unit
How far down the tube is the screw, just thinking dirt might have got inside the tube as it had no bung on the tube.

Take the little tube off the metering head (secured by two socket cap screws) and try to free it off.
Its like a spring loaded allen key in the tube, so should push down and spring back and turn in both directions easily. Take it off and soak it in WD40 overnight and then have a go at freeing it off. If someone has tried too hard to turn it, the allen key socket may have rounded. All you need then is a new little tube, not a full metering unit...

Thanks for the advice
took the tube off and had a good look at it, its well seized and allen key hole is rounded off.
Think the metering unit is well past its sell by date, took one of the injectors out whilst turning it over and the fuel was coming out like a jet wash

Go to the breakers and look at mercs audi's saab's etc. Loads of motors will have them.
You can mod the metering unit by drilling and tapping a new thread and using a bolt to cap it off instead.
Or just buy another adjuster.

You shouldnt be touching fuel pressure as this is set at the correct amount for the injectors to work correctly. Only increase for high spec MFi engines even then not by too much as it will effect the whole rev range.
