Default Distributor, should it have a O-ring?

Took the distributor out to re-align it so it matches the mark for the aux pulley.

Shouldnt there be some kind of sealer on the shaft, like a o-ring or something?

Is it made of rubber like a normal o-ring?
Mine seems like hard plastic so perhaps time to change it, lol.

Thanks, I have ordered one now.

Is it possible to get the distributor back in if I fit the head back on or will the intake cover block it? Just wanted to keep on working with the car so its ready to start up once the o-ring turns up.

As said o ring goes hard with age, bit tight for room but easily doable with head/inlet on already, just trim off any excess bolt thread that may be showing as if there is any closest to the cap it makes it harder to get cap on, mine had a good 1/2 showing.
