Default Cheap insurers? 17yr old on an ERST?

Okay, decided I want one now.....Im going to have a ring round about quotes etc ...any ideas so Im not on the fone all day on monday?
Dad works in insurance but is playing hush hush as he doesn't want me to be driving one, isnt it always the way?
I know HIC won't take me, and I know admiral and dominion plan will rape me up the arse...any other input would be helpful =)
To be honest I just want a list of insurers that would take a 17yr old...I can compare prices myself as obviously it's going to differ a lot locationwise to some of you etc
Much appreciated
Kate

Ive worked for Dominion Plan this summer, lol....hence I know I would never ever be insured by them....not the most productive company im sure, lol.
Im not too worried about the cost really....it's the actual issue of which insurers won't just laugh at me when I ring up trying to insure one =)

can u not go as a named driver? i dont see the merit in forking out so much for your own insurance, fair enough u get no claims, but as i have proved most people do crash within first 2 years of owning their license and insurance is a lot lower when ur a bit older anyway..

fair enough u can afford it but i see it like this, its like paying £100 for packet of biscuits... you can afford it but its just not worth it...

if u see what i mean... xx

As i suggested earlier babe, try and get named driver or something with your mum.

Its like you pointed out earlier tho, which would you rather?

£3k Fiesta 1.4 + £1k insurance

or

£2k S2 and £2k Insurance

I know which id chose! Got mine when I was 17 too

I'd rather start building up the no claims straight off, whilst I have the money to pay the higher costs now, as I doubt I could afford insurance without any no claims when im in uni living on beans and tinned hot dog sausages. =)
As nice as you have all been, who should I actually make a point of ringing on monday.... I'll try diamond, interford?

Exactly, I'd rather pay the most, when I have the most spare cash....
I went to confused.com and got 3 sub 3grand quotes....thats including my saying it would be a modified car, and that im a new driver without pass-plus (althought I do intend to get pass-plus, Id rather get the higher quotes, at least then I get a nice surprise when i have the pp lol)

QUOTE-A-CAR/Quote 1 £2699.17
BUDGET/Zenith £2762.18
DIAL DIRECT/Zenith £2767.04
Not half bad, Ill give them a ring Monday no problems =)

My Mk2 RS2k is £134 to insure fully comp

Yet when i had the Esc Cossie that was £1970 at 30 years old with a "couple" of points

If you can afford to build your no claims do so , however the 2k+ your gonna spend would pay for some nice mods though ??

Nige
