Default Big boost peaks

After looking at some posts i see there is people that have huge boost peaks, is this normal.

Wouldnt a more progressive curve be better for acceleration and limiting wheelspin, yes it wont be as entertaining but wheelspin doesnt win races.

Looking at my old graph i was peaking 16.4 and falling to 16.1.

Wouldnt this be better than a 4 - 6 psi peak coming onto boost.

Yep, I think you're right. If the boost peaks that high then drops off I think there must be something wrong, like a weak actuator or something. My Ka peaks at around 13 to 14 psi and holds at least 13 (difficult to tell exactly on a revotec gauge!)

Yes your right but it depends alot on your individual setup, what turbo you have, what method of boost control you use, what your target boost is, etc...
Sometimes it cant be helped.

Its a Ford thing, everyone seems to love boost spikes, they do make the car feel fast. I mapped this out of mine years ago. Often it is done when you do not have the fuel to support boost at high RPM's, perhaps due to injector sizes etc.

My boost 'curve' is almost totally flat.

My rst peaks and holds the same boost pressure up to the limiter......comes on boost fairly progressively, hits full boost and stays there. Electronic boost controller helps this though

I'm running an Apexi AVC-R and am thinking about having higher boost midrange to use some of the extra fuel thats floating around (MFI), dropping progressively down to what I can fuel for at full load (6400rpm WOT), should give me a nice bit of torque, acceleration, and more response!
Although if I was EFI this would not be the case and i'd want a nice smooth boost curve.

Had really bad boost spike on my last S2, was a ZVH on MFI and would peak at 14-15 but hold maybe 11psi, was an animal for lighting the wheels even with 8j Comps

One before that ran Omex 500 and held 17psi never peaked over 18, was brilliant even through 2nd with 280lbs of torque. Had a Burton ZVH in there, pretty sure clutch slipped before wheels did lol...

Even perfect boost curve can only fight the chassis so far
