Yeah big problem mate as KidRS said!! RIP his S1!!

I'm slapping Focus ST 300mm bad boys on the front of mine as I dont want the risk, even then i'm going to test them and perhaps add a bias valve to be sure!!!

This came up a little while ago and I said about the over breaked rear end and promptly got shouted down by a couple of users. I hate to see anybody damage their cars but maybe the shouters from the other thread might like to now read this?

don't see the point in rear discs if you have to tame them with a bias valve, mite aswell leave the drums on, although discs look better

get shot of the rear compensators too !!!!!.

or go the whole hog and get braided lines throughout and a custom pedal box replacing the servo with in-car adjustable bias on the dash ( like moi ) .

If the compensator is removed wont it brake more at the rear as it restricts the braking based on load and would have 100% now all the time?
Although I think mine is differnet to normal RS's it's the same as the van and estate models, just one in the middle at the back. Dont know if that makes a difference?

If its locking up on the back and your on standard suspension you will possibly want more braking on the back not less, so reducing it with a pressure reducing valve is going the wrong way

How will more braking stop it from locking up, if it's already locked up?
I'm on Spax adjustables BTW, i've not actually had mine lock up but after hearing about KidRS i'm concerned.

lol... i'm confused!
Has it not locked up because the braking force is more than what the tyres can grip?
So to not lock up you either need better tyres/suspension or to brake less?

I think where Tony is going is that because teh front is braking hard the weight transfers to the front thus making the rear of the car light and as a result more likely to lock up. By increasing the effort the car will brake more level and thus stop quite such an excessive transfer of weight away from the back of the car

you must have read my PM I sent to Karlos this morning

If it locks up under braking it could actually need more on the back to stop it, depending on what its doing.

Thanks! Yes that makes perfect sense!
I think it's going to be a bit of trial and error with a bias valve to get the balance between front/rear just right then.
