Its a fairly standard car with a diesel box, i would prefer to put a standard box in while the engine is out for rebuild.

There's also the option to just buy an LSD from Guaiffe or Gripper at ~550£ and install it to the Diesel box. The result will be far better and worth more than any S2 gearbox with the standard viscous LSD.

So the diesel box is better than a S2 box? or is it just the LSD that's the difference?

So why would putting an lsd in a diesel box make it far better then any S2 box?

I see what he was getting at what i'm trying to establish is which gearbox is actually better. Why not just put the LSD from Guaiffe or Gripper in a S2 box?

Neither is better just depends what ratio you prefer. TBH all the BC gearbox's are weak and wont take too much abuse (well hard launch's really).

Ah ha thanks for the info, I wasn't trying to be obtuse just wanted an understanding of the difference.
I take it by BC gearboxes you refer to the type used on cvh engines? is there an alternative?

Thats ok mate everyone on her likes to take things the wong way lol
Yes BC boxes are what is fitted to mk3/4 escorts, there a a few alternatives all that require some modding of the chasis I believe, MTX75 etc.. not looked into it myself.
Or if you have deep pockets you can buy a stage 2+ BC box from CTS that should last forever.

Cool thanks mate. I don't have very deep pockets at the minute but when I go back to sea there will be four months without ebay and what not so will have a massive hole being burnt into my pocket!

6-speed from a zetec? that sounds pretty swish, they take alot of work to fit then?
