So if you bought one of these and built it up and registered it, would you be able to get it on an 09' plate?

Totally amazes me how some people get their hands on this stuff, it's probably been sitting in a warehouse for 20+ years! Just goes to show, there's plenty goodies still out there.......somewhere!

Yes if you use all new parts when you build it, it would need an SVA too of course.

It wouldnt ever be an RS500 obviously though, as you wouldnt have an RS500 chassis number for it.

I bet you could build up all 11 of them, get them all registered as 09's and flog them on at circa 25k each.

Then, in 15 - 20 years time, our kids willl be on forums like this, wondering the whereabouts of the '09' fleet', digging up history etc

If i did it, I'd call them the Stavros edition (1 to 11) and have a nice cossie stlye stavros decal on the wing

why would they go for 25k tho? they wont be worth more than a normal 3 door, Look at that guy trying to sell the blue "rs500"

I'm curious as to what the cars under the covers are, thought X19, or Fiero, but it's neither of them... any suggestions?

I know I'm talking to myself but... I'm going for late X/19! The big bumper on the late ones make the car cover look like the the rear panel is sloped, which it isn't.

Nobody would want them...look at that guy who built Y2KRS it was exactly that a brand new 3 door on a Y plate, couldnt sell it for love nore money, just had everyone argueing over whether it was a genuine cossie or not.

It wouldnt be a cosworth either, as it wouldnt have a cosworth chassis number either, it would just be a ford sierra, or arguably just a kit car.

No, you wouldnt have to do anything dodgy, perfectly legal to replace a rotten shell with a new one.

So that utterly fucked RS500 the other day for example that was on here, that plus one of these shells and a bit of effort would have a legal and awesome car built with rs500 logbook!

it doesnt have to be 100% percent brand new parts, just a percentage, cant remember what percentage of the top of my head, but even if they do, do they check every part to ensure it is brand new?

emmissions wise it wouldnt need to conform either as it is not a production run, i believe

I think you are allowed ONE secondhand major component.

on my mates westy to get a new reg he was only allowed the engine to be 2nd hand, everything else, diff, gearbox etc, he had to pretend it was new, i mean use new parts

No, its illegal to change a shell from one chassis plate to another, but not illegal to change a chassis plate from one shell to another.

its a high percentage and your "new" parts need to be backed up with invoices from them all

a brand new bodyshell is just a replacement part so it is not illegal , insurance companys repair nearly new cars using new shells and give them back to the owner
