Default Pressure washing an engine bay

Can i pressure wash my engine bay on my focus. basically my fiancee was putting oil in it and forgot to put the cap i took it to work and could smell burning oil and opened the bonnet to find oil every where

be careful, if you get electircs etc wet or get into bearing etc then you could make a right mess of it.

Would personally try to hand clean as much as possible then use the washer on the lower down sections.

As long as you avoid the electrical connections and anything really sensitive you'll be fine, I've done it loads of times.

It will be fine mate. Make sure you do it whilst the engines running, soak in TFR, keep the lance away from the air filter and electrics if you can and you shouldnt have any problems mate. Try and leave it running for half an hour or so afterwards with the bonnet up too. Modern cars can take a good hammering with the jet wash/steam cleaners.

I used to steam clean 20+ cars a day, i used to give them a good going over without problems. Probably had one every week or so run a bit lumpy for a while afterwards but they were citroens and fiats so not to worry.

cheers i can do it at the bus garage where i work dont want it spotless just want the oil washed away

if your cars got painted rocker covers, gearsboxes,what have you,just be abit carefull or the paint will chip/flake........

dont do what I did many moons ago on a gti, covered it in degreaser, then when it wouldn't come off, lost my rag and chucked a big bucket of water on it, theat foooked it lol!!

i dont know what a focus engines like but id recommend wrapping plastic bags around any electrics as water gets in everywhere. i made this mistake on my cossie engine and got water in the distributer cap . wouldnt start for ages
what about they hearts eh? 5 points clear for 3rd place
