Default AUDI TT broken please advise

mrs phoned me on her way home and said the cars lost power....she nursed it home and i had a quick look last night

seems to me that its fireing on three very lumpy and the engine light flickers on the dash.....Im thinking its the coil pack what do u guys think???

The last thing i want to do is take it to the stealers so please please help x

Sounds like a Coil pack to me.

if you have a misfire, do not run the engine if you can help it as the unburnt fuel will light in the cat and melt the matrix together and block it. this can cause further issues with the heat building up in the head

cheers guys...its parked up at the mo just a bit worried as she drove it about 2miles in that state

and il have to start it tomoz as its blockin the rst in....and saturdays are turbo time

I'd replace all 4 coipacks as a matter of course TBH - if they are anything like BMW then once one goes the rest will be soon to follow.

as above coilpack is a very common fault on the 20VT engine, so is MAF sensor.

cant help much more than whats already been said but i've not long bought an Audi TT myself, worth joining http://www.tt-forum.co.uk and having a read or ask on there.

Remove each plug one by one and see which one isn't firing, then replace that coil pack (I think it has four seperate ones for each plug on these engines?).

yes they run coil on plug, think the coilpack are about 40-50 each by memory.

i'll be running the BTCC mods i mine (massive heatsinks) as thats what kills them, heat transfer.

Just rang Audi coil pack = £30.67 x 4 so all in all its not a huge blow.... flea bay are cheeky hunts wanting nearly £39 plus postage!!!!

whats happened to the bay it used to be great for bargains!!

BGefore you buy, try Quattro Corner, GSF or EuroCarParts for prices.
Also look on the S2 forum and maybe even tt forum as I do believe there are upgraded ones you can buy.

Just spoken to a guy from "Quattro Corner" he said he doesnt do the uprated ones and from what he's heard they are nothing but trouble...he mentioned they come from the states "034" is the company. He said go with the audi ones as u get 2 yrs warrenty anyway..

I worked on a TT which needed coil packs,I got told to fit cheap ones and the miss fire was still there.I got some proper genuine ones and it was spot on.It is a very common fault on these.
