Default Wall mounted tv brackets

The time has come where I'm finally brave enough to hang my tv on the wall, I've through ebay and there are LOADS !

I refuse to buy a cheap one to hang a £1500 tv off but I was hoping someone could advise me something suitable.

The TV is a 40" Sony Bravia, I've foudn this on ebay which although isn't a genuine Sony product does sound good :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-KDL-40W45...1%7C240%3A1318

I need it by the weekend really so if anyone knows of one I can just go and collect for similar money I'd rather do that

Cheers

Interesting, I'm sure there all ok, I'd just never forgive myself if I came home to find it on the floor in pieces !

Whats the build quality like on yours and how is it fixed to the wall and the tv ?

Any links ?

ive had expensive brackets and cheap brackets, they are virtually identical, the only way youre telly will be on the floor is if you make an arse of fitting it! not down to the bracket.

as said above, its not the brackets that are the issue, its how the brackets are attached to the wall

the wall isn't the issue, the expensive one i've got for my 50" uses 6 M12 rawbolts to secure it to the brickwork, plenty hefty enoguh, but it's the little tiddly screws they expect you to botl into the back of the telly that worry me

on the other hand, my 42" is held to the wall with 10 M8 rawbolts, just to be sure

Ordered one of the cheaper ones, after looking through their feedback there I'd like to think it will be fine.

Did they come supplied with the wall fixings or did you sort your own out Dojj

Mine came with huge 13mm (?) bolts about a brick depth long! I had to get the SDS drill out to fit them and watch out incase it went through the kitchen tiles on the other side of the wall . I tried hanging off the mount first and there is no way it is budging!

the more expensive one came with about 500 different nuts and bolts and washers to fit to the back of the telly in virtually every conciable depth, thread and head size, but you wil need to get your own wall fixings

here's a tip, figure out where you want to put the bracket, put some lines on the wall, then put a hole in the corner first before you start to level everything up make sure it's not on the piss

the priceier ones also have individual either side adjustabilitym, whereas the cheap ones just have a fixed braket

mine is also lockable so you can' pinch the telly off the wall

I've only had 1 issue with a universal bracket, was supposed to fit 40"+ tv's, when the arms were bolted to the 47" tv the wall plate fitted in between them, so we cut the wall plate in half and mounted the 2 halfs 6" apart on the wall and put 6 screws per plate instead of the 8 screws for the whole plate in 1 piece

1 year on and all is good, we even used the same method when we mounted it in the new house

I've got one excitly the same as your first link but for a 50" and i only paid about £20 for it. It came with a great selction of screws for fixing to the tv and 6 bolts for the wall but i put 8 in mine just to be sure. looks well made and been up for about 4 months.

I'm pretty sure 1 wall plug/coach screw can take in excess of 400kg so as has already been said, its not the fixings its how you fix them

I bought one from Empire Direct for £40, would take up to 63" telly.

Came with all bolts (mossive things), fixed to the wall with 8 bolts, and my 50" kinda hooks on this ledge that is attached to the wall.

Ive got confidence you could prolly nearly hang a car on the wall LOL

thats where mine came from. Came with 8 massive bolts and loads of different fasteners and wall plugs and stuff. Went up dead easy and never had any issues with it
Quality is pretty good I reckon, came painted silver with stainless bolts holding the tilty bits together with good nylocs on and a little handwheel adjuster for fine tuning the tilt

For a posh one try Unicol - no good for boarded walls though as you can't get enough fixings in - unless you drill more holes.

Unless it's an insanely heavy tv you wont have any problems with pb walls so long as you get a good 14+ fixings in Ok so it's not ideal, but it does the job and saves a lot of hassle.

Chris (who used to put them up for a living and generally tried to avoid the above but has resorted to it on occasion!)

this is the one i got

http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/stor...5&category_oid=

but i didn't pay that much for it

you can see the small locking tabs on the top fixings, pop a small bolt through it and it's never coming out

goo little mod to stop it from being bounced off the wall too

bolt the back ot the wall
bolt the 2 hangers to the telly
clip it on
lock in place
easy
