ROFL, yeah but if they don't get him they will get others and once they hit CL spots they will flock in with that money. Just hope we knock Liverbird FULLY of its perch before Messi turns up.

You hold the record signing after only being involved 5 minutes so imagine what a full summer will do. Real tears >.

It is fearful, I fear who we might buy
I have heard Kaka has got a proper hard on at the thought of playing with Bellamy, Scott Parker and Benjani

lol @ the pic!!!

as for city, they are buying a player who doesn't want to join them and whose club doesn't want to sell him!! but when you offer Ł110m who can say no!! scary amount of money IMO and i just cannot think anything other than it being pure madness!!

It really is dog shit, In the real worl we have ZERO chance of buying a player like that for at least 3 years, so lets offer stupid cash and stupid wages, Even though I am a City fan fair play for Kaka for wanting to stay ay Milan for the right reasons (not having to play next to Darius Vassell)

he WILL join though, i'm sure of it!! for that money though i really believe you could get better suited players for the project.

5 Ł20m players for instance!! although to be fair this guy has endless money so i guess the 5 Ł20m players will follow soon

Is this the beginning of the end?

At this current moment 5 Ł20m will be more beneficial to us than Kaka ever will be.

Agreed, but as everyone knows how much money city have at there disposal, they will end up paying Ł40m for Ł20m players. like this kaka situation, in real terms, if he was going to any other club, we would be talking Ł50m or less, if real madrid were willing to pay Ł50m for ronaldo, there's no way on this earth kaka is worth twice what ronaldo is worth, or even 4 times what we paid for nando come to that. But if i was kaka, id jump at the chance to go to city, when your talking about half a million a week in wages, loyalty and trophys go out the window, he would play for accrington stanley if they paid him that kind of money, and im sure so would any other player.

To beat you yes. To equal, just once for PL & twice for Champions League in each case. & with United being ahead of you in other areas, we'd take the lead anyhow :-D

Still got to win them trophys though pete fella. and as far as the rest mate, i dont even count fa cups, league cups etc, portsmouth won the fa cup last season, spurs the league cup, how many times have they won the league or champions league ?. in all honesty, if liverpool could pull out of the league and fa cup, i wouldnt mind, keeps everyone fir for the league and champions league.

That saddens me deeply to be honest. The most famous trophy in the world being dismissed as a simple distraction.

The Premier League and Champions League are monsters that are killing football. For proof, you're talking about one of the knock-on effects within this very thread in the possible scandalous transfer of Kaka!!

I see your point, but I don't entirely agree.

City need to get some "token" players in place. They have one, but they need a couple more. That way, come the summer, they will have a small selection of world class players. That will attract others to come. A few more superstars and as many of the "Ł20million players" as you like really.

As you've already said, who's going to be hugely attracted by the prospect of playing alongside Darius Vassell?

But Kaka and Robinho? Yes.

Man City have genuine ambitions and they will become part of the elite. Not overnight, but pretty damn quickly. But the whole squad will need shaking up. Joe Hart is perfectly good enough as a goalkeeper, but no doubt an older, big name will come into the mix as well. Richards, Wright-Phillips and Stephen Ireland are probably amongst only a few that could make it there in the long-term the way things are going.

Robinho didn't exactly do a great deal at Real Madrid after looking amazing in Brazil. But then he wasn't even one of the big stars there, and coming to Man City will help him. He's already shown more flashes of brilliance at Man City than he even got chance to in Spain. For me, he is a good signing.

They will have to spend silly money to get Kaka, and probably a few more, but once they have that genuinely world-class squad, then other big names will follow for far less money.

The likes of Bellamy and Wayne Bridge are costing peanuts to Man City, and are effectively like loan signings to them as far as I'm concerned.

If I were one of the top players in the world right now, with no personal biasty towards any club, the one team I'd like to sign for the most would be Man City. It'd be far more satisfying to build something special virtually from scratch than just to jump ship from one Champions League side to another.

Think what City could achieve over the summer with a few seriously big names already in place. OK, so it's only going to be mid-table mediocrity for them this season most likely, but a productive summer and much money spent and you'll see the change start to happen

Nah, 1 PL and 5 anything else. We need to over take your official trophies list of 59 and the 4 main ones list, both of which give you the title of most successful English club.

I love the FA cup been great games and shocks this and last year, Carling too but you're right PL and CL is the priority these days. FA cup is the oldest cup competition in the world though and represents well over 100+ years of footie started 80 years before the European cup so todays slightly lesser reflection is irrelevant. The European CL wasn't always this big and some English teams weren't keen especially the FA wasn't and Real madrid who won it the most won 6 of their 9 before Englands first winners of it Man United won it in 68. Comparable with the FIFA world club cup in that its important to the teams and people of the other 5 continents champions league winners but doesn't get much attention in England but it will grow if they get it right.

AC Milan won the European cup what 7 times? 5 more than Juve but they aren't the biggest or most successful Italian club.If it wasn't for those 5 Carling cups ahead you are then you wouldn't be ahead overall so again it all counts in history. Here's a quote I posted elsewhere from a Liverpool fan on red and white kop...

If we fail to win this sort of game, I dare say it's likely time to start congratulating Manchester United on becoming the most successful team in the history of English domestic football (their FA Cup advantage would, in all fairness, just about make that the case).
