Just wondered if you guys could help. I have a piper T285T2 cam in my RST and it is worn. Would this affect the performance of the car much? I am going to replace it probably with the same cam and was also wondering if it would need a setup if i had the same fitted? Any help would be much appriciated

Yes definatley, i had one years ago and managed 28k miles of pure abuse and only removed it to go to an all steel fresh engine, cam was still like new when it came out. Newman would prob be the better option if they have managed to sort wear probs out, i havent personally had trouble with them but i know a few on here have

All CVH Cams currently on the market are predominantly shite! LOL

In all seriuosness though reading so many peoples different experiences with cams it appears that it is a complete lottery as to how long a freshly fitted cam will last in your engine!
It depends on so many factors, oil pressure, how it's ran in, what material it's made from, where Saturn is in relation to Venus and the Moon, where you are in your menstrual cycle....etc..etc..

If your car was setup when the T2 was fresh and you replace it with another T2 (ensuring the timing is exactly as it was) then you shouldnt need one no, but it's never a bad thing specially if it's been a while!
