my centre diff is starting to go so is it worth buying a second hand box or recon? i never bought a box or had a recon before so not sure of prices? any help appreciated.

 

The problem with buying a secondhand box is, unless you can try it first to make sure theres no unusual noise, crunching when changing gear etc, you have no idea whether it is ok until you either fit it or strip and inspect it.

At least if you get a recon one you should have some sort of warranty on it.

If you are going to buy one secondhand, it may be worth buying one from a pukka rs breakers like North Yorks RS Spares or Ashfield Motorsport.

Theyre not in the business of selling knackered stuff so should get a good one from them.

 

Could you not get yours refurbed, might be cheaper if thats all it needs.

 

get a diff and fit it, fairly easy to do if you have a driveway and some spanners

 

Would also keep the old one and recon it! As said, if you cant "drive" the spare box you cant be sure its fine.
