Default propper justice iran style!!

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Wor...figuring_Woman

why can't the uk do this, what a great idea...
crime would surely reduce after the crimnals get exactly what they do to some innocent person done to them..
would only need the first few to be in the news and people would think twice about destroying the lives of others..

They certainly aint a "nanny state" over there are they?

At least the punishment fits the crime.

lets hope he's not innocent and deserves the punishment.

The problem with punishments such as this is the fact that if someone is wrongly convicted you have no way back and for this reason im not certain how I feel about it..

I think im all for this kind of punishment but only for repeat offenders.. for example if someone is a serial car thief, give them a few times to learn and then if they do not... off with the hands.

In this case, he has fully admitted doing it and even showed no remorse. The punishment on this occasion is therefore just in my eyes.

I was going to say the same until I actually read the article, maybe you should try that.

A little barbaric though, blinding by acid, you do need to draw a line between "us and them" and in this case, it's verging on the the law and the accused being as bad as each other.

did you actually read the article it clearly says he didnt think acid would do that much damage, so how can he be innocent when he has already admitted it?

I've had cars stolen and I would complain about it, and want justice however I do also think people make mistakes growing up as such I do not think an eye for an eye is always suitable.

I know someone who stole as a teenager, from houses and cars to support a drug habit. This person was placed into care after a family member was convicted of sexually assaulting him. He eventually ran away and fell into drugs because they gave him an way out of his feelings, thoughts, situation... He needed money for an addiction brought on by a terrible situation, he was not a bad kid.
Are you suggesting that an eye for an eye would be suitable for his ills ? - And yes this person also stole from me and I was angry, yet things are not always as clear cut as they may seem. Some people need help more than punishing.

This person is now helping kids in a similar situation

Thats gotta have a reasonable effect as a deterrant, seems barbaric, but cant help but feel he certainly deserves it more than she did, so cant really say in all honesty I think its actaully wrong as such.

Its really difficult in the case of people abused who turn to drugs as the only way to block out the nightmares and fear etc, you have to look on them compassionately as a victim at the same time as you look on them as an offender IMHO
