as above, is there any way of making it black again?

powder coat it or high heat paint

no its an escos one, so plastic

back to black or cockpit shine etc, usually works quite well on that type of plastic

you could use back to black ect, but i always find it keeps going dull proper quickly, so mayby a quick coat of satin black spray paint for a long lasting finish, preaty cheap at halfords,

plastic primer then apply satin or matt black high heat temp paint - more durable - lasts longer.
