stu at msd sell these , well worth the investment !

there is no need for a remap , wasted spark has nothing to do with your chip.

my mate has had this conversion done on his escort cossie. He said his mpg is spot on. He told me it cost him 35 quid to get from the north east of england to santa pod. Dont you have to put a resistor in the rev counter so that it works.

i would be able to fit all the parts apart from any wireing or soldering but sounds like a good conversion as misfires get on my nerves more than anything so will be doing as soon as money allows can you also buy a blank for the dizy if you dont need it cheers

i had misfires on the ford spark plugs , misfires on the ik 31 's , perhaps the problem was in the tdc sensor / dizzy sensor , (these 2 cause misfires as well) or something else , but i fitted the wasted spark system and it runs perfect. starts on the first turn , Hc in the exhaust gasses went down quite a bit . basically the best uprade on the cossie

You can't just junk the dizzy, as it drives the oil pump, and supplies the phase, though the phase signal can be moved elsewhere.
Reyland do a dizzy bit that sits flush with the block and acts just as a oil pump drive then.
It is perfectly possible to high a very high power cossie on std ignition with no misfires if everything is right.
I looked into the conversion but consider myself that is it expensive when compared with aftermarket ecu, that do coilpack plus lots of other stuff, might be best to decide what you wnat in the long term and save for that.
The msd conversion certainly works well though.

I took my dizzy apart, fitted a oilite bush in place of the std ford crushed iron particle one, for total reliability, and whilst at it, machined off in the lathe the end of the shaft where the rotor arm sits, as I had to pull end off to grind off one of the two lobes anyway.
It now sits at the level of the metal surround ring at the base of where the dizzy cap was, made a plywood insert for here and painted black, all sealed up so water can't get in, holes in underside enlarged slightly as well.
