no it won't unless it's a very early one as it needs a knock sensor or it will retard the ign hugely.

fook sake ive got a series 1 engine in my series 2 and i just bought a chipped ecu off a s2

Are you sure mate?
It only retards the ignition if the little piezo mic 'hears' Knocking/Detonation which generates a small voltage and signals the ECU, if it's not connected or isnt present then it cant 'hear' anything, the ECU doesnt receive any voltage (signal), and the timing isnt retarded.

i have s1 standard ecu m8,just be case of soldering piggyback to board and fittin chip,i can do if you req? would take Ł40 delivered.

im just gonna change the inlet to a s2 so ive got a knock sensor ive got the s2 inlet in my garage ready to go

Doesn't work like that i'm afraid. The ECU interupts no signal as knock as well - it's a real pain, as they often play up and retard for no apparent reason. That's why you can't just disconnect them, and a good mod for the S2 is to put in an S1 ECU, but you can't do it the other way round.

im a proper muppet i went to change over the ecu's and the one in the car is already chipped by brodie britain racing
