they probably use water injection to keep temps down. i would have thought they keep the intercoolers small to give as good a throttle response as possible.

temps must still get really high !
the I/C looks about the same size as wrc escort ones and theyre 300hp
these must be running 600+ for a few mins on full chat must be a more effective way ie bigger ic and water sprays/injection

what sort of bhp are they running?

They do look small yeah, maybe its not too bad if the cars are only used for (relatively) short bursts like hillclimb??

Well work, and work well they do! He's just won the Austrian hill-climb championship...

Having been to his workshop and spent some time with him, he's a great bloke with some really different ideas... plus he's always testing and pushing things to the limit so he can better advise his customers.

nice vids

paul - i did see they look quite thick but its the surface area of the intercooler that is mostly important for cooling ...

I was going to say they look quite thick, which is what I thought mattered? I suppose the bigger the front the more air hits it...

the thickness is mainly to do with airflow iirc it obviously is goig to cool better than a thinner one but not as good as one with a large surface area im sure thats right lol

PS is german - Pferde Stärke , also measured slightly less than bhp.

PS = Pferdestärke (1.0 PS = 0.9863 HP.) Used by japan

kW = Kilowatt (1.0 kW = 1.34 HP) Used by Germany and other in Europe.

Any ideas of the engine/turbo and fuel specs?
Theyre restricted yeah, and probably not running a great deal of boost therefore not creatng too much heat.... so maybe there just high comp builds, big revs with lots of inconnel on fuel that has good det resitance??
The coolers aren't really that small either imo. Everyones obviously seen much larger coolers but there generally tucked away behind bumpers and grilles in relativly little airflow, quite the opposite with these ones it seems.

You can run methanol engines with a turbo without an intercooler
