what is it today porkie
house purchases are long term investments not short term and we have to live somewhere ,better to pay a mortgage than waste money paying rent.
The boom will come around again and so will the bust

Many years ago it was $1.45 I also vaguely recollect a time when it was even less than that. The pound has been over inflated against the dollar for years time for it to get back to a realistic true value

I know it peaked to over $2 dollars, now that was good for the Brits but shit for the yanks. However it was only any good for the Brits to import but shite for our export.

hawaii is very nice lee, not what i expected but still very nice, its basically a mini america, just with nicer weather and loads of japanese.
Great if you like shopping, maria would have a field day, but it isnt cheap, its supposed to have some of the most lavis shops in the world and i can see why, on such a smaller island it has 2 massive shopping complexes, and if there isnt a every top designer brand in there then i would be very supirsed.

Stu some more banking jokes for you
How do you define optimism? A banker who irons 5 shirts on a Sunday.
Q. What's the difference between Investment Bankers and London Pigeons?
A. Pigeons are still capable of making deposits on new BMW's
Q. What's the difference between an investment banker and a large pizza?
A. A large pizza can feed a family of four.
Q. What have Icelandic banks and an Icelandic streaker got in common?
A. They both have frozen assets
Q. For Geography students Only: What's the capital of Iceland?
A. About three Pounds Fifty

Sounds like Dubai... just with english instead of Japanese

makes me laugh when the arabs slag off the yanks and Europeans.. whilst eating there Mcdonalds, drinking a bud and driving a Ferrari
I am a serving soldier in Germany.
It wasn't long ago when I could draw money out using a UK cash card and get 1.49 euros to the pound.
The exchange rate is now only around 1.19 euros to the pound.
I am very lucky that I have a German bank account that I can have my wages split between the two. The British Army give us 1.31 euros to the pound if we have some of our wages paid into the German account.
The difference between 1.31 & 1.19 euros to the pound can mean as much as feeding myself for the month.
We used to get a very good exchange rate that meant we were flush compared to the rest of the community.
It really is going tits up.
It's times like this that I consider myself very lucky as an individual person I am relatively unaffected by the onset of recession
My wages stay the same no matter what.
Looking to be a first time buyer with a 30k deposit in April. House prices etc falling just makes it easier for me.
Real shame to see everything going pear shaped

nice position to be in mate. Choose the right location with a distressed seller and you really could hit a home run in the long run... and get a nice place to live or rent out
I've been watching the Yen rate quite closely recently as I'm looking to get some bits from japan for my new car, when it comes, and this morning its just dived and fallen almost 10% against the pound

I decided it was about time I stopped pouring my money into a mk3 escort and made the money work for me. 11 years done and 11 years left to do in the army.
I have seen far too many of my bosses get out after 22 years and have absolutely no property or investment.
They have to use their gratuity and pension money each month to pay for something they should have sorted out ages ago.
It all comes down to the 7 P's
P roper
P rior
P lanning
P revents
P iss
P oor
P erformance
Property will be bought to rent out. Then save and buy another one.
Then I think I might treat myself to an Escort RS Cosworth in a couple of years
