Default Zetec Turbo's overheating issues????

I have a Zetec turbo that's just about to go on the rollers for a full map but I need to sort an over heating issue first, all the coolant pipes are plumbed in correctly, it has a new Ford stat, new pro alloy rad with slimline fan etc.Trouble is it just gets warmer and warmer even though the fan cuts in.

We had the head off ages ago to inpect the pistons etc and was all fitted back together with new parts.

Just wondering if there are any known issues like water pump impeller falling off ??? Just trying to save myself a little time here

What water pump did you fit with this IIRC the mondeo pump rotates the wrong way.

I found slimline fans just don't cut it. My old turbocharged zetec used to suffer on hot days with a slimline fan, however it was trying to pull air through a ~70mm intercooler core, air-conditioning condensor and then the water radiator (standard).

You can't beat the OEM fan and shroud really, but unfortunately it gets in the way of a lot of turbo setups!

Martin thats the reason you have to have the correct water pump. Maybe worth checking with the owner

I did'nt fit the pump it came on the engine, I have that 'undecided' pile of scrap outside and that has a 1.6 zetec with the same belt run. How do I tell the difference between the two pumps externally?

Pumps are visually the same on the outside.

If you clisk the link above that will tell you all the details.

If its in a Fiesta mk3 its a engine up a few inches to remove.
