Default 2.0 zetec turbo valve springs

Ive been advised to replace my standard valve springs if i am running more than 5 psi boost on my blacktop zetec turbo, Is this correct? If so what valve springs do people recomend and will i need to take the head off to change them? I will be running around 1bar of boost. I should be getting it setup on the rollers in a couple of weeks so if they have to be changed i'd rather do it before.

Any help would be apriciated.

Si

They only need chaging if raising rpm or they are weak anyway.
Being turbo'd does not make the valve any heavier, which is why the spring is there to close it, if it has a significantly higher rpm with the turbo then I would or if done over around 50/60,000 it wouldn't hurt anyway.

they do need to be changed as rs 5tu said the piper ones are good or you could go for double valve springs from area six but they cost quite a bit

Good luck finding valve springs for under Ł130

Piper do replacment ones which retial about Ł130, and Area Six do similar for Ł135.

No need to go double, its over kill.

area six they are Ł130 for 85lb springs and good for 20psi but the head has to come off to fit them and the standard ones will float at about 11psi,

being turbo means that the valve has more pressure on the back of it, acting against the spring.

pipers springs seem to work, but it all depends on how far you want to go with it.

Been looking on the net and ive found some piper springs for Ł155. I have emailed Area 6 for a price. Also found out with the correct tools the springs can be replaced without removing the head
