Default Building a garage, im after advice!

one for the builders, or those who have had a garage built.

along side my house i already have a double garage (2 single joint garages) - but in all honesty its very old and alot of the bricks are crumbeling, roof is just as bad and id rather pull it down and start again as it really has seen better days.

but what does it cost to build one, materials, doors, labour etc!?

just after vague costs so i can ponder on it for a while before starting to pester builders for quotes etc.

please and thank you

are you going to use brick or you can use concrete block and then get it rendered, like i did.

are you going for a flat roof or slated roof....more money for the slated but it will be better.

are you going for new footings or a slab?

just a few of things that will bump the price up.

yes Kelv, look at the start of the mk.2 escort build.

mine was footings...labour to dig then price of concrete...iirc Ł300-Ł400...brickie to do the block work...cannot recall price...my mate to do the roof...free...trusses were made at just over Ł12 each. i needed about 15 iirc.

slates..iirc...about Ł330.

doors go for about Ł250-Ł500 each depending the type.

concrete floor..mate to do it again for free ....about Ł200 iirc.

upvc window..Ł120. ( windows saves brick/ block etc... )

rendering for the outside,i bought the materials...Ł70 approx, then about Ł350 to get it rendered.

so all in all it was not that expensive, but you are going for a bigger size so the costs will be higher obviously.

depends on roughly what you want it building like etc...and the builders.

you then need the old one knocking down and taking away...more money.

hope that helps.

Mines 22ft square, block work and rendered.

Large UPVC window, normal door to rear. 2 garage doors (UPVC)

Tile roof to match house.

All work, footing, blockwork and roof to finish was 6.5k, thats an all in price.

Sort off see it here with my old car....
Last pic it being built....
