Default Rolling Road Tune, or actually rolling car

I rang a place that was recomended to me to see about getting my 90 spec S2 set up on the rollers. The bloke told me the rollers were broken at the minute, and with my car being lowered I prob couldnt geton their rollers anyway.

He says he can still do the set up etc for me out on the road??

Is this right??? Ive heard about this being done to scooby's etc, but a series 2???? Is this actually possible???

cheers everyone for the replies

Think ill give it a whirl, with all the problems Ive been having with cutting out n missfiring etc, I checked my plugs earlier and they stunk of petrol and were a bit carboned up (black) so I think it should do it the world of good

Maybe he is going to have an assistand lay under the bonnet with an alan key, a screwdriver, and a 11mm spanner to 'map' the car whilst he's driving with a wideband lamda up the exhaust and a hand held gauge in his lap shouting intructions out the window?!?!?!?

'Live mapping' LOL.

'Road mapping' LOL.

People who road map are those who haven't got a Dyno. If you have the choice, Dyno all the way. Adjustments can be made much closer and probably much safer, because changes can be measured, so it's possible on a Dyno to see if what you changed actually made any difference. You'd never know on the road whether the extra 3psi you're running had any real effect, so you might be running the extra boost for nothing, for example.

Bang on the money with that comment!! it also really good for timing changes, monitoring exactly when the torque is being delivered etc, its impossible to properly test this when on the road

So setting a car up on a rolling road (a situation it will never find it'self in) is better than setting it up on the road (a situation it will be perminatly in) ??

my opinion s that its about getting then engine sucking, farting and fueling as it should regardless of the situiation, in this country it can be sunny one day and cold and damp the next so its hard to draw the line. The priority is to make sure the fueling and burn is correct, adjustments are more refines and precise on a rr, even better on a dyno but this is pure money. Its each to their own i think, noris m-sport and motor s-dev use mapping on the roads and they have one of the best reps in the game
