Default Creaking noise from front end when turning? :(

Hi, the last couple of days Ive noticed a loud creaking noise which seems to be coming from the front, possibly the suspension when I turn either left or right!

Anyone had the same problem or known what it could be?

Not really got a clue but I guess suspension related?

ta.

have you got poly's fitted?

they tend to creak if they are drying up so a quick undo and grease up should solve the problem

its normally an indication of knackered suspension top cups, they break up,pop the bonnet and remove the top nut of the shock, remove the top plate and look inside the hole to see if you can see bits of broken metal

As said the top mounts would be my guess. Not an expensive part either for a change.

Also, check on the inside of the car where the steering rack passes through the bulk head and see if the big metal clip is all the way down to the bulk head holding the bushes in properly

If it is the top mounts what would be the better ones to get, Powerflex or Ford standard ones?

Not talking about the bushes, but the metal "cup"

Ah right, so does that mean the front shocks need replacing?

Had exactly the same problem on my 4x4 saph last month, changed the top mount metal cups and the bearings. Haven't heard a creak from it since.

The parts weren't expensive from Ford, think I paid about Ł20 for the 2 cups and bearings.

yes,you may as well do the bearings while you have the shocks out and all stripped down

Thanks to everyone for the help, just to let you know dojj was right, top cups were fine and it was the poly bushes causing the noise!
