No

You'd be on first name terms with your AA/RAC man in about a month

my bro has had a few s2 rst's and so has his mates, if you keep them up together there's no reason you cant use them everyday, they still currently do.

they are fine to use every day with regular maintainance but more relible if your not running big boost, if using in the winter make sure the underside is well protected.

Can be a fun everyday car, like most. Just look after it and it'll look after you.

Common sense really.

My missus used her last two every day whatever the weather over a period of 5 years.

Mechanically it was never really a problem with either car, but bodily thats another story.

They are made out of papier mache and just rot.

So if you are planning on using it make sure you have waxoyled it to death, every orifice must be filled with waxoyle and do something to stop the battery tray rotting out and under the fuse box.

Then I'd go over the factory underseal with something to seal up any splits or cracks in it where water can get in and rot it out.

They're fine, I mean they were production cars once upon a time

Common problems though are overheating starter motors and fuel pump relays.. but nothing major.

Surely when Ford sold them they didnt have a paragraph in the handbook saying "Not for commuting or regular use"

I duno why folk are so worried about performance fords. You wouldn't get the same question from a scooby owner.

I use my s2 as everyday car. I have standard engine, just chipped it, and run about 14 psi. Now one year passed that I didnt touch anything on car, no faults.

I have owned my S2 for 5 months now and use it everyday, never been unreliable. When i first got it i got pistons replaced(rings worn on no.3), head off, pressure tested(needed few new valves), a group A head gasket and got it set up on RR straight away and its never missed a beat. Starts first time and runs mint at 15psi. Do loads of miles but will be putting it away for winter as i dont want to drive it on gritted roads. (probs break down today after writing this lol)

I have used them for years as daily runners! My current car didnt miss a beat for two years until I got third instead of fifth and bye bye engine.

Motor is rebuilt and running just got to get round to MOT and she good to go. Its all about the maintenance and not going ape with the mods. If its in good running order why should it be unreliable? Because people run them on a shoe string and the car being 20 years old it just doesnt happen. Soon as people have the money to maintain them they get sold on to by a cossie/evo/bmw and so the circle starts again. Hence the bad rep.

i've used mine everyday and they are fine, very strong mechanically imo if looked after but they do rot and rust and thats the big issue and the reason mine is sat in the garage looking sorry for itself
needs ripping to bits and rebuilding, body needs to be rust treated much better than ford attempted- they really didn't try very hard
