205 blocks are all the same, the only special they made was for the rs500 205 block which the only noticable difference outside is the smaller core plug holes, but i belive the liners etc are thicker internally.... the 200 block as we all know are the ones to get but finding a good one for reasonable money will be a mission! many a person i know have run over 400bhp with a complete std 205 bottom end.......

RS2000 never used a 205 block it used the early cortina 2.0 block, sorry to sound pedantic

Yep, correct about the rs500 205 block. I was lucky enough to buy one and they don't come cheap! My car previously ran around 350bhp on a standard 205 block.

The 85HM 6015 BA is the original Ford part number, i.e the number on the engineering drawing not the Fins number used at the dealership / spares department.

Not sure what the other numbers are though.

It means the blocks are the same design but I'm sure the Cosworth blocks where hand picked based on the bore tolerance after machining.

From memory I think if you look by the distributor there are four numbers stamped in the block. These dictate the class of the bore after it was machined, think there were 4 classes in total. I'm sure the blocks for Cosworth engines only used class 1 or 2 bores but I maybe wrong.

If your having the block re-bored anyway then it shouldn't be a problem.
