Its a very popular conversion, as its fairly straight forward (compared to some others anyway) cheap to buy now and gives 200bhp straight out of the box. Have a look at the link below will give you a bit more info

Cheap to buy alright mate as got a complete car thats still mot'd for 200 quid !!!

200 quid spent trying to get some more bhp out of my 2.0 Pinto wont go far or get me much so this seems like the way forward as far as power gains are concerned !!!

Do the guys on that Caprisport site give out the info needed for doing this conversion ??

Im confident about sussing it all out myself but a wee helping hand wouldn't go a miss all the same as not sure which crossmember to use or rad etc !

Default Hi ....

With reference to your post ...

I didn't read the above posts but ....If your Capri is PINTO POWERED and it's got no powersteering or was never previously fitted with one ... You will surely need

- 2.8i Front suspension + anti roll bar... or your car will way lay too much
- V6 cross member and while you're there get a power steering system

But that's about it.... If you try fit your engine on the Pinto cross member the engine mounts will not fit properly and you will have to make some adjustments to fit it properly. The main difference between the V6 and Pinto Cross members is the location of the engine mount attachment. The Pinto locates the engine mounts forwards to the front the V6 one is the complete opposite..... It is important that you minimise the leverage on the mounts....remember that.....

Got the donor car home today

Travelled down to Oban for it ( 300 mile round trip ) and drove it back with no problems at all !!!

Everything works on it, electric heated seats, elec windows and sunroof, air con, cruise controle etc etc, still even got the original Ford stereo and seperate cd player below it that still works !!!

A bargain at 200 notes i reckon.

This is the Capri im putting the engine in, started life as a 1985 1600 Laser, everything Laser is getting binned and have full shark grey recaro interior for it along with a Brooklands black leather steering wheel ( a Ł25 ebay bargain !!! )

New set of 7x13 Superlites and will be lowering it inch and a half all round.

Would like a LSD for it but with the stupid prices they seem to be selling for just now looks like i'll have to make do with the standard one, that is until i blow it up with 200 bhp trying to fire through it !!!!

Although Ive never had any problems with Caprisport they have got a bit of a rep for coming across as "arrogant"........apparently. They charge Ł14 for membership and once you have paid they will give or sell you everything you need to get that V6 under your bonnet.

Oh and your a stuffy bugger for only paying Ł200, your axle will be fine as Ive done 2 track days and about a 1000 miles in my cossie powered capri with a atandard 2 litre axle which had done over 130,000 miles before I cossied it

Am going to join the Caprisport lot and see how i get on with the info they give me, been helpful enough so far by answering a few emails so will give them a go.

They give you a detailed wiring diagram so that will be a huge help rather than trying to figure it all out on my own !!!

Going to try the type 9 2.8i gearbox and see how i get on with that as they are easier to get a hold off than the mt75 boxes which need modded anyhow !! 2.8 flywheel and prop needed as well so on the lookout for them on fleabay as no capri's broken up anywhere near me to get spares from !!!!

the type 9 will last until the end of your driveway, they could only just cope with the 2.8i power
