Default Anyone ever done a Saxo VTS/Pug 106 GTI engine conversion?

Anyone know about them? Saxo forums seem shite!

Bought a Saxo as a run around and got a very cheap crash damaged but running Pug 106 GTi so wanting to swap engines. Got a basic guide but having problems unlocking the ECU!

Any help?
Cheers

i'd just transfer everything including the transponder and barrell etc then no probs unlocking. or if parts are missing u can buy an unlocked ecufor about 250! if i remember rightly the saxo loom runs through dash the and the 106 behind? everything else should go in. what saxo is it? If its a base model then u may want to transfer the brace that supports the engine mount under the battery.

urban myth identical engines. people do say if u have a 2001 pronged engine (pre egt valve) a few were showing 130 on the rr but its all hearsay!

cracking engines. manifold pugsport and a airfilter they show 140-145 with a cam and a remap u can get 155-160 and a cracking little car that revs to near on 8k!

i done a conversion myself to my old vtr, put a 2001 106gti engine into it wasnt too bad as had all the ecu ignition barrel etc so didnt need to unlock the ecu, worst bit was swapping all the loom over!

Not easy as they are different engine types.

one is XU and one is TU so mounts and everything are different.

Cheers for all the replies! Better than the bloody Saxo forums!

Tonight managed to prep it all and unlock both ECUs, you need the immobilser box for it to work with the transponder/key/ECU so just chose to unlock it - takes 30 seconds when you finally find out how!

It is a 1.4 Saxo so a GTi engine is a good upgrade for the £100 I paid for the running GTi

I actaully really used to be into Saxos, as stated the 106s are no faster/more powerful. However it is true a few VTS Saxos came with 130bhp during the cross over period for the emissons.

Should be a laugh, I bought the Saxo for £100 too, so for the money think it will be a great little runaround.

Seriously thinking about turboing it though...
