Default Megasquit base map for RST

Hi all,
I wanted to know if anyone has a basic map for the megasquit for an escort rst,
I need a base map just to fire up the car and then my tuner will do the fine tuning.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Idan

Where ever I looked everybody seems to love them,
Relatively cheap, a lot of functions and it’s an open code system so you have tons of add-ons,
I just got lost in trying to find the best match for me since you have Megasquirt I and Megasquirt II, and number of different vesions for each... and different boards... different sensors…etc'...

So now I’m trying to figure out what I need, but before I wanted to know if somebody made a base map for the rst 'casue if not I will spend a lot of time just trying to fire up the car before even being able to start driving it.(I going for the distributor less method)

I'm no expert in the MS but I heard once you get all set up with a good tune it can work magic...
Plus the previous owner of my car installed an ECU that I’m ashamed to name so I have to replace, either cossie or MS or something….just can’t stay with the one I have...

I can send you my MSQ.

I'm in the proces of tuning my RST on megasquirt at the moment.
Also on 330 cc's but on a 2.0 ZVH but your engine should run on it no problem.
Are you running edis or the direct coildrivers.

There is a map in the megatune software in default files where the rst should fire on.
The ford 4 ci 36-1 msq.
You then have to fill in if you're running edis ( msns ) or coildrivers ( generic wheel in wheel decoder )

Also read a lot about it here

http://www.msextra.com/viewforum.php?f=113

and here

http://www.msextra.com/manuals/MS_Ex...nual_Index.htm

But if you're running the vb 921 coildrivers i can send you my msq.

cheers

Thanks!!
I still didn’t install the MS but the plan is to run with vb 921 coildrivers.
So if you can send me your msq that will be great.

One more thing, I’m not running a 36-1 crank sensor, my pulley looks like the cosworth one's that you have 4 teeth every 90 degrees and not 36 teeth and the 37th missing like 36-1 is this a problem for me ?

I have also mapped several RSTs over the years with MS and can send you some maps if you have some initial problems. However, the tuning software should be able to make you a base map based on some initial figures you feed in. To not even start an engine, the map should be way off.

The 36-1 wheel is not with 36teeth and the 37th mising. It's 36teeth minus 1 missing, thus the 36-1 name. So only 35 actual teeth. The base number of tooth slots makes sense because it makes every tooth count for 10 degrees on the crank and is dividable by 4.
If you have a 4-0 trigger wheel, the management has no way of knowing the engine position and can't know which plug to send a spark to. This trigger wheel will only work with a distributor.

Hej JesseT,

My car is running nicely now but i'm having problems revving above 6000 rpm.
It feels like i'm in the rev limiter ( wich is set at 6600 ).
Tried other capacitors c31 en c32 ( as said on the efi extra forum )but didn't help.
changing the dwell also has no effect.

Have you got any ideas of what it might be??
Have got logs and msq if you want.

Thanks

Are you aware that there are two types of rev limiters, the soft and hard limiter that you can set to different rpm?

I sew some system on eBay starting for around 300 USD,
Apparently I need a 36-1 crank trigger wheel (thanks JesseT , IAT sensor, coil drivers, diagnostic board, all cables and looms...
when you add all up you get to around 600 USD without LC-1 wideband and a gauge... that's easily another 400 or so USD last time I looked around, all prices are just what I sew on an initial browse on-line...

If you can send me those maps that would be great, my tuner would think it would be very helpful as we both just starting our way around tuning with the MS...

1000 USD to an MS install with wideband is a bit unrealistic no matter how you try to count it.
The loom is easiest to take from any cvh efi and just chop the ecu connector of. Take the EDIS, manifolds, throttle body, flywheel, CPS, fuel rails, coil pack, spark cables, etc. and all small things from the same donor. Can't be more than 100euros. For a budget install, just use the distributor as it is. For wideband, the best bang for buck must be the VEMS unit at 250euros if you want a gauge as well. You can get a LC-1 + gauge for less than that.

The diagnostic board is not needed and other managements don't need one either. If you however want one, it's 15euros. The IAT sensor is already on the RST.

I have the maps on my laptop. I'll try to remember to some RST maps when I get to it.

sounds about right when i think of it.... 1000USD is around 680 EUR, and when you add up all what you said you get less then 500 EUR or so...

is around 300 USD for the MSI sounds right to you ? or should i go for the MSII if i want both fuel and ignition control ? i'm just having hard time understandig if the big difference between the two- are just the hardware different and you choose with version to install, which means that both can do the same only the MSII will be faster .... ?

or am i way off ...?

300usd is about right for a prebuilt kit, but most just buy the diy kit at half the price.

Isn’t boost pressure depends on your MAP? The MS on board std. MAP can hold 21 psi...

Regarding BHP and all that I’m sure about limitations, maybe somebody that knows more then me can jump in and answer that...

On a standard mapsensor you can do 21 psi max ( 2,5 bar map sensor ).
I fitted a 4 bar mapsensor straight away, so can theoreticaly i can drive boosts up to 3 bar hehe. so boost shouldn't be a problem.
Don't know what you're expecting in terms of limitation but you can run anything from 1-12 cilinders with/without turbo's , traction control, multiple spark and fuel maps, boostcontroller etc.

Default Hy!

I'm new in this forum!

I have an Escort RS Turbo and my intention is to manage the CVH with Megasquirt MS2 and I want to copy the standard ignition advance table from the original chip and then optimize based on the needs of my engine.

I mount:
  • Kent CVH35 camshaft
  • Big GRS Intercooler
  • Standard turbocharger Garrett TB0355
  • Champion QC59C spark plugs
  • IW-158 injectors with 370cc/min 3bar 16Ohm
  • COMETIC multilayer head gasket
  • Bailey DV26 dump valve
  • Stainless Steel Exhaust System
For the rest of the engine is original:
  • Standard pistons
  • Standard con-rods
  • Standard compression 8,3:1
  • Standard inlet valves and exhaust valves
Could anyone help me?

There are quite a few Megasquirt maps posted in here for RSTs. I can't access my old laptop now where I have my MS files, but there is an old screencapture picture of my old ignition map on this thread:
https://passionford.com/forum/techni...egasquirt.html
Just beware of detonation with the standard turbo if you are running big boost.
