Default Claiming back on Debit Cards ?

I've purchased 2 items on my debit card that haven't turned up, I have managed to find out that the company I got them from are being far from honest about why my parts are still not in stock so I want to get my money back sharpish.

They took nearly £550 4 weeks ago and haven't sent me anything so am I entitled to a refund or can my bank deal with it ? I have a strange feeling even if I ask for a refund it will never appear so I'd rather the bank dealt with it.

Anyone know much about these sort of things ?

I had a similar problem but my bank wouldn't help. They said that if you could claw back money from a card payment then you could steal everything you ever bought by claiming the money back even if like me you didnt recive any goods. Its a fooking pain i lost out on £75 quid

I think only credit cards are guaranteed by the banks, on a debit card doesn't the retailer have to do a charge back

The Consumer Credit Act is the piece of legislation that makes credit card issuers jointly liable with the supplier if something goes wrong on a purchase between £100 and (I think) £30,000.

Debit cards are NOT covered as they are not a means of borrowing.
