Racing Plugs
I am currently working with denso motorsport division to develop a racing plug for the yb engine,on cars that are pushing over the 400 bhp mark.derived from the iridium genere,but wont be as fragile as the standard ik range,those of you who might be intrested in getting your hands on these pm me and if enough intrest is generated i might just set them into production for the passionford crew!
having worked with ngk and denso techincal for the last 10 years gives me the knowledge to "help" spec a plug which would give optimum performance over the currently available plugs on the market,also i am sacrificing my 500bhp engine to help with development,so i hope that that should suffice your concerns.
the most common problem we have come across using the standard platinum and iridium plugs is the breaking of the tips = engine failure! also the blow out of the spark = det.
The racing plugs will have the centre electrode seated inside the housing,which remedies both causes!
This is a must for all those of you who want optimum power delivery and have paid good money for your engine rebuilds and most importantly for those who do track day their cars.
Now ready and developed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wish i knew that before i bought them for my zetec cab and rs2000.....
engine failure due to breakage of tips???

Sound intresting, however what are the reasons regarding over 400bhp. Im running about 350 surely it would do any harm to run them on lesser bhp cars. Just a thought, might open the offer up to more takers.

breaking of the tips means no spark = melted piston!
The plugs would be ideal for cars with 300+ bhp due to the heat range.
This technology has been long awaited and works wonders on the yb,giving much improved throttle response and may even increase mpg.

better ignition=greater combustion=more power! there are scientific formulas to prove it all mate! F1 technology for your road car,those who are in the know understand it all.

The blow out of the spark was reffering to the standard platinum and irridium plugs whose tips tend to break as these precious metals are very fragile.As stu mention these plugs are designed for racing as the title suggests! where the advantage comes in to effect is that the electrode and tip are precious metals which conduct far superior than that of copper core,thus increasing spark output by using a finer point to create the spark.

I know a little about ignition and fail to see how moving the point of ignition away from the centre of the combustion chamber is going to result in better flame propegation and I for one am very interested to read your theories on this.

Just put the denso ik31's in my stage 3 sapph, dont want any engine failure, is the tip breakage common?
Ive had to adjust them already as the spark was getting blown out at 0.65mm, now set to 0.6mm with no problems.
