The blow out of the spark was reffering to the standard platinum and irridium plugs whose tips tend to break as these precious metals are very fragile.As stu mention these plugs are designed for racing as the title suggests! where the advantage comes in to effect is that the electrode and tip are precious metals which conduct far superior than that of copper core,thus increasing spark output by using a finer point to create the spark.
