Default lcd tv and pc input

i have just bought myself a 37 inch lcd tv that is now connected to my pc. All is good. On thing though, its a 1360x768 hd tv, but when i select this on my graphics card settings, it says not supported on the tv. It supports the res below that, but doesnt quite fit the screen right. I have it going through VGA atm, but would running it through the s video or hdmi be a better choice to make it work idealy. BTW the graphics card is a 8600 GT. Yes i know, they are apparently rubbish, but is more than capable fir watcing tv on and seeing the internet in a really nice res

Try running the telly in 1440x900 in your gfx card settings, the telly should then detect its a HD source and reduce the size accordingly

Works on my Philips 50" Plasma

Try 1280x768 as that will show as a HD resolution aswell.

Whats the resolution of the telly for HD, is it 780p/1080i/1080p etc etc?

there's a simple trick to it.

In the nvidia software you have to set some changes as a custom resolution.

It's a case of puting 1360 / 768 as resolution, but put the timings for 1920x1080

If you don't know how to do this i'll attach some screenshots ?

Works fine here over DVI-HDMI with my philips LCD. (took some time to work it out)

It depends what the maximum settings are for on the pc input on the tv. Mines a max of 1280x1024 sxvg, haven't tried it on a dvi-hdmi connection yet.

well before i was running dual screen mode with the 19 inch monitor as thr primary. I am now just staying in single screen mode on the nvidia control settings, but just selecting the tv to use in the taskbar menu, and the picture is loads better. Perhaps the graphics card just cant hack 2 high res screens running at once?
