Default Wanting that glass/wet shine.

What's the best finishing polish to give that nice glass/wet finish on a dark colour paint...... Car is very clean and was zymol'd last year, but can't afford to do it this year.....so need to get my own butt into action and just need advice to get that wet finish.

Otherwise for value for money, victoria concours is the in thing of late.

You could try clearcote red moose glaze and then wax. Said to give really wet finish, and is around Ł15 a bottle. A bargain in my eyes.

you need to get the paint perfectly clean to start with, i presume you don't have a machine polisher?

doesn't matter because it can still be made to look nice

i'd buy;

sonus clay bar and some lubricant.
poorboys polish with sealant
either poorboys natty blue wax or blackfire wax
collinite wax.

use them in that order and you'll have a deep long lasting shine

Jim,

Check www.detailingworld.co.uk for advice and guidance and products. I would seriously look in getting Dodo Juice Lime Prime, followed with Dodo Juice Rainforest rub finished off with Collinite 476s. Those 3 will probably set you back about Ł70 but well worth the Ł's

collinite wax on its own is fine (a couple of coats), theres no point in applying two different waxes on top of each other

Not true...i use collinite 476s for protection, then Natty's blue to add a bit more depth to the shine, especially with dark colours

Collinite is very good on it's own i agree though

Or even wax over sealant, dependent on colour.
Obviously not the other way round though....

I like the megs, easy to use, looks good, but lasts a matter of days.
It is far more cost effective to use a more expensive wax or sealant.
A Ł30 pot of Victoria Concours would probably work out cheaper, give a better finish, better protection, and last for a couple of months, not days.

oh well fair play. i was 18 when that pic happened, and didn't have alot of wedge to play with, so was usually using what halfords had to offer.

Which ever wax you do choose i would go with the Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale spray after, seen some very nice results from this.

Do you use your bare hands & fingers as instructed with Victoria wax, or do you use a applicator?

1st time i used it i used the bare hands way and i felt like if been fringing 100 birds for a year! PMSL

I now use an applicator! Spot on stuff and well worth the price!

Better off using a foam applicator as it will give more even coverage and use less wax.
