PassionRover 1.8 VVT cam timing?

Default PassionRover 1.8 VVT cam timing?

head gasket went on my mates Rover 220 coupe, can't seam to find a Haynes for this model so before i take it apart does anyone know any links to were i can find info on this engine including torque setting, timing etc etc.

Thought the 1.8 vvt lump was in the bubble shaped 200 series not in the coupe

just the same as a normal k series iirc, except you have the other belt on the other end to change. just remove one of the cam sprockets, pop the belt on and put it back on the cam.

Sump to gearbox bolts 45 33

Sump drain plug 25 18

Timing belt, front top cover 9 7

Timing belt, front lower cover 9 7

Timing belt, rear cover to coolant pump 10 7

220 coupe is not a k-series lump.....

The later models did indeed have a K fitted

IIRC the earlier ones had Honda B/D series and the turbos the T series.

1.8 VVC were the very last Coupes, also had MK3 dash in them aswell.

Where do all the timing marks have to be before i take the head off?

What to look out for?

just a hint, leave the vvc units and the cams in the cam housing... the units are pretensioned and can be an arse if they fall apart!

my understanding was the 220 was a 2 litre... which is the old T-series.

Yeah, been trying to punt it off and come back to the blue oval (fancy something with a turbo these days ) but no success as yet.
