The problem is, whenever I blame the parents my mum goes mad. 'No ben, you can turn your back for a split second and there gone'. Don't turn your back then? I guess it's easier said than done. Either way, absolutely gutted and hope she pulls through. She lives under the bridge, near mine.

theres obviously rules and regulations in construction for gap sizes to prevent these sorts of things happening. used to be 100mm. dont know if it still is but someone hasnt done there job right for a child to fall through .
its impossible to get through a day without not taking your eyes of your child . anyone with children will know that and only those without children will make the claim that you shouldnt be letting them out of your sight for a second.

Horrible :-(
Re gap - I think you're looking at it wrong. My guess is she went up over the handrail and then fell straight down in the empty space that would be between the up and down escalators...

I'm not sure, I assume so. I really can't see there being gap big enough for a three year old to fit through. However, if there was someone's arse will be getting kicked, hard.
there was one in edinburgh a couple of years back in a newly built bank iirc . an employee had popped in on her way past on her day off to visit and her child squeezed through a small gap and fell 1 floor to his/her death.you would think that these things are checked but being in the building trade i know the sort off corners that are cut.

that is fucking crap news
hope she makes it through

and hope they sort out these fucking shitty gaps EVERYWHERE
i notice gaps like mentioned nearly everywhere i go, airports, shopping centres, supermarkets etc... but who can you complain to, to get noticed and make sure there are some changes made?
why do they even leave gaps in the first place? to look good?
am i looking at this in the wrong way? how hard is it to cover them up when originally doing the job to avoid anything like this happening in the unforseen future
cant believe it take accidents and sometimes even deaths for things like this to be noticed
for once im actually being serious (or trying to be
) im not having a laugh posting on this thread, all it takes is a bit of common fucking sense
stupid cunts
