Hi there peeps i have a golf gti 8v mk2 that i uswe as a family car and keep my other tucked away heres goes the problem is when i drive along the road after say 30mins the car will cut out and not start for a wee whileso i thought it was the fueling side but it turns out to be it stops sparkingbut if i leave the car for say a few hours or over night it will start first time :S really puzzeled and want to set it on fire lol but nead it for family purposes i bought the car as i am doing a full rebuilt and paint on my toy and wanted to take my to for it to be perfect so can anyone please please help me as i need this car for daily use thanks for taking time to read this

The classic signs of electronics overheating.
You need to look for signals between the ignition components when broken down, but coils are a favourite.

thanks for taking the time too help me will get that checked out thanks again will let you know what happens will change the coil tommorow

 

As tabeta sayes sounds like coil

 

i have changed the coil and distrbiuter leads and the thing on top of the ecu and still will not start stuck a dribble of petrol down the engine and wanted to start i think 1 off them has helped i changed the coil first and did not do any diffrence think it was the dizzy but now think it has a feuling problem(thinking about setting it on fire diffrent if it had an rs badge lol)any other susgestions guys?

 

Get someone top crank it over whilst you push the metreing flap down and see what happens, then when running set the CO.
