Piper BP285T2
What should i set the timing to for this cam?
Stock setting is 12deg BTDC (haynes manual) with a standard cam, i couldnt find anything on the Piper website to tell me.
Cheers!

Yeah i've looked there but my engine is fully assembled and i dont have a dial gauge.
Surely many many people have these cams fitted and the timing is the same for all of them?
It's standard engine but with this cam kit fitted, i just need to know how many degrees BTDC to set it to, i'm having it setup on the RR but the engine is still running in so need to set it so its safe to drive for another 1000miles or so before it gets thrashed on the RR!

If your using a timing disc/DTI then you should be aiming for full lift on No1 inlet valve 114 degrees ATDC.
I have this cam in my turbo and it was running the standard Ford pulley before i rebuilt it and timed it up correctly using a vernier.

I do have a timing disc (came with my vernier), i thought it would be just like setting the timing for a stock cam? Paint on the crank pulley, paint on the correct timing mark on the cover (0,4,8,or 12deg), strobe etc... is this not right?
Just to clarify it's the ignition timing (setting my distributer in the right place) that i want to set, not the cam/valve timimng this is already set.
The engine is new to me and i've had to use my dizzy and manifolds etc.. the cam belt and vernier are already where they should be.
