Nah , good luck to him...the council will charge us what ever they please anyhows so if they cant be arsed to look after their roads then i hope he does get some pay back. The roads round here (derby) are utter wank as well....one of the majoy roads into the city centre is more like a patch work quilt of wank pikey repairs

Good luck

Had it happen once started looking into it, and some of the things you have to prove are,
1 all roads in the area are rated on an importance level, each level needs a check every X weeks months etc dependant on importance. As long as it was checked within this criteria then they not liable.
2 If it has been reported by X amount of people and dependent on the priority of the road repaired within X time.
There were other get outs for em cant remember all of em
But even things like just cos it big and dangerous that means it big and you should have been able to see it and you avoid it

Hope you can get summit out of em

Some have so must be possible

i hit a pothole in hounslow
took pics
went and saw the person in charge of roads
gave me a form
filled it in
they sent out an assesor
was told that they would pay the damages once i gave them a recipt that the work had been done
bill came to £2200
they said the car was worth £1900 and gave me £1800

the damage was 2 bent rims plus cracked crossmember, engine sump, front diff sump and steering rack on the estate

so deffo worth pursuing
