Default Exhaust question

Had some money burning a hole in my pocket the other week so decided to treat the sapph to a new exhaust. It already had a Mongoose on it but it was about 12 years old and there was a small hole in the middle box which made it quite fumey in the car....anyway, i bought a brand new mongoose from Collins Performance... i fitted it and its louder than the one i took off!!!

I'm glad the fumes have stopped but i'm a bit annoyed that its louder than before, has anyone else experienced this? Do they quieten down after a while when they've 'carboned up'?

Mine has only got louder with age

I have a goose to (a very early one) and I think there has been a few small design changes over the years - perhaps these have changed the db level a little ?

I thought Blue flame and Mongoose were the same thing?

Oh right

I was under the impression that they were made by the same people but Blue flame were cheaper because you're not paying for the Mongoose name?
