can you ever have enough power to stay scared?
or do you get used to anything given time?
I used to think 100bhp.tonne was entertaining, now 150 bores me. fastest car ive had was about 170 a tonne and the fastest Ive driven just under 300.
is there ever a point where you scare yourself every time, or does anything eventually become mundane?

From my experiences, 400bhp per ton seems to be a good level that is properly entertaining for a long time, on most roads its gonna be hard to get bored of that, but you will on longer, straighter, safer ones.
TBH, i reckon even at 500bhp per ton itd take a lot, even motorway driving, to think you fancied more power as you was bored now.
Most ive driven is about 900bhp per ton, and that was properly frightening, so perfect. That id expect would be hard to get bored of in any situation.
Its mostly about where you are driving though, as obviously wider, straighter, quieter roads, at higher average speeds, means you will get bored easier of a set bhp/ton, as itd have less noticable effect.
My comments above are based on all-round driving, as sub-100mph on single lane road, even 400bhp per ton is prob enough for ever I reckon, just sometimes need more on easier roads.

yeah, I know what you mean, also the car will have a lot to do with it, a big merc with 500bhp will always feel slower than a fiesta with 200 for instance.
900 a tonne sounds properly mental, scary even in a straight line up a runway?
Chip and I have concluded that after about 400bhp/tonne much more is pointless on anything except a motorway as youre saying, but it would still become mundane lol

my escos is over 500 bhp per ton,and it is nearly undrivable on public roads,ie by the time its on the limiter in 3rd you have runout of road or are traveling way too fast compared to other traffic.= dangerouse.so its limited to short blasts.i have got used to the power up to 120mph, but the acceleration in 4th gear is quite scary, and 150 comes round very quickly.if i built another car i would go for 380 bhp and spend money making it handle well.
With a quick squirt of gas ive around 750bhp/ton with 100-180 in 10.8 means comming up a motorway ramp I can be doing 180 in sub 10 secs so its accessible all the time, can you get used to it, to a degree, its the approach speed to other road users thats unreal & scares you. Just ask people like Jaycos what its like. Its still scary even in a straight line at Brunters because its way beyond what the chassis can handle.

caterham r500 is off the shelf 500bhp / ton and superb handling as well. the black one at croft this year will run rings around all comers as it did in 2007 (except andrew gallacher).

i think youd have to build somthing stupidly quick to keep getting that adrenaline rush its the element of risk bein on the edge that does it but like you say you soon get used to somthing and because you do thats when the buzz stops its why alot of us get fast bikes take up great white surfing or tennis with hand grendnades with the pins out
acceleration is like cocaine....
you will allways be chasing that first big hit and never feel like you have acheived it... therefore wanting more and more to keep up your addiction....good luck
