it would still fail as a vehicle known to be fitted with an arb as standard and had it removed is a reason for rejection

only if the MOT tester was being a cunt, as almost all modified cars have something removed that was there as standard that would fail if only 1 of em was missing...

ARB's are specifically mentioned in testers manual.
Not being a cunt, doing his job properly more like.

Well they cant fail you for no spare wheel or no seats if you take them out so I fail to see why you'd get failed on an ARB that was taken off

if it's got a spare wheel it's got to be legal

but that's not a safety issue, removing your arb will leave big bolts and holes where it would normally live so it's not the most obvious thing you can hide away is it

WTF

Testers don't make the rules up, follow their manual

If you've a problem, take it up with the ministry, don't come out with shit here and make yourself look stupid

Dunno, do I work for the ministry?

MOT's are just a joke really, ministry man picked me up for failing track rod ends for play in them.
Said they had to be hanging apart before a fail, not just a bit of play.

Same for bad rust in sills etc out of prescribed areas, mate was picked up on that. Said only seen that applied correctly once, and that was when he stood on sill the car bent under his weight.

Nothing i have said is wrong :s apart from the fact the ARB is explicitly mentioned in the manual which i didnt know!!!!!

My point about the spare wheel and seats still stands correct.

You can pass woth no spare wheel yet fail with a bald spare

I once removed the rear seats from a car to pass the MOT as the rear seatbelt inertia reel was fooked, so before I took it to test station off came the seat and the bits the belt clips into and hey ho a pass. You arent obliged to test something that isnt there unless explicitly stated in the manual. ( like ARB's )

I should hope spare wheel point stands, as Rover sold cars with no spare, just a can of tyre weld

If one was originally fitted to that axle, it needs to be there.

and a spare wheel only becomes illegal when you fit it, so for the MOT it's not a requirement.

it might be advised if the tester wants to.
