Default Can you remove oil additive?

Hi there

Yesterday my cousin persuaded me to use an engine oil additive, but I found out today this could ruin my warranty (I have 6 months left). Is there anyway of removing the stuff (eg changing oil & filter?)

Thanks

As it sounds as though the car is new(?), it should NOT be used with additive as this slow down the natural running in of the engine.
I wouldn't worry unduly, just change the oil when convenient.
The manufacturer will not be able to tell it had an additive added anyway.

Hi Tabetha

Thanks for reply. I was extremely worried I may have done something stupid to the car. Im assuming over time the additive wears out?

In you post you say it slows down the natural running of the engine, does this mean I could cause it damage?

All the Best

Fear not!!, you will NOT have done any damage.
It slows down and can even prevent proper running in of components if using a real good quality oil like fully synthetic when engine is new, always use a MINERAL oil for the first few miles up to say 10,000, before even thinking of a synthetic as modern oils are so good there is virtually no running in needed.
On new engines I am at full throttle by 500miles for short burts, but normal(lead foot) driving by 1000 miles.
