Default suspension questions etc.... fiesta Si or jsut general mk3

bought this a couple of months ago, been doing bits and bobs on it getting ready for track in 08.

jsut wondering if people can give me some advise, basically...

i'm after some rose jointed lwoer arms need to know the best place to go a friend bought deflex ones for his escort and they where utter garbage.

the car is on gaz coilovers, what are peoples opinions of these on mk3's?

and jsut general info on what suspension set ups people are finding the best and also what tyres work well on them

also what have people found to be the best manifolds to use? my mate bought a stainless one off ebay and has had no bother with it but i've been looking at an ashley one anybody had any experience with these?

cheers boys

Gaz

area 6 is best place for rose jointed lower arms.

Gaz coilovers are best you can get for the fiesta, avo are alright but not as good quality as the gaz items!

I think you can buy alot better than Gaz.

How much do Area 6 charge and are they MK3.5 compatible?

250 iirc,

dont bother with the manifold unless your changing the engine, the 1.6 zetec doesnt respond to breather mods as the ports in the engine are so small, along with the valves.

Was going to ask similar questions as Gaz.

just bought a MK3 fiesta and its going to be mainly used for track days etc.

is Area 6 the best people to speak to for the full suspension package, or whats people honest opinions on what they are using on the cars.

for and against and vague costs of what people have spent and how it handles etc.

any input welcomed

And Gaz, sorry to Hijak your thread mate, ill shout you a drink at the next meet

Best mods for handling IMO

coilovers
area -six rose jointed lower adjustable arms
poly bushed rear end.
set of r888 or prada if on budget
15 inch wheels no bigger..
spring rates can be changed to dial in what you feel best..

300-325 front and 500 rears for track car can go harder...

A quaife diff if the power is there will help alot too..

its going to be on 3dr cossie wheels, 195/45 toyo's.
already obtained a full cage.
4x4 cossie front brakes.

and its not going to be any power monster, more of a car for fun - but think ive managed to source a ST170 engine, and a friend has a set of twin 45's, thats if that will all fit into the fiesta

any vague costs on the Area 6 rose jointed lower adjustable arms
and a contact number please.

and any best company for the rear bushes, and maybe again vague costs.
Fitting and setting up is no problem, its just not knowing whats best for a fiesta thats got me stumped!!

cheers for the help Mr Yeti

Okay for the lower arms mate your going to need to call Ian Howell il Pm number to you incase the one i have is his private number..

The arms i beleive are around the 250-275 mark thats the fully adjustable rose jointed items, you can send him the ones you have too.

I have powerflex bushes around Ł150 for the kit which does the rear end and front anti roll bar. I also recommend a new steering rack surprising how postive it feels with a new reconditioned one and only a mere Ł30 in exchange.

Ian can supply the polybushes i believe.

As for shocks i have AVO work well but the finish quaitly of the product is not excellant, go for Gaz or look into spax coilovers i shall be for future..

again spring rates go for harder than they come with as they are just a fast road spec as standard.

The engine will fit in mate not a problem

what gearbox are you looking at running??

also, get on ebay, theres a comapny called flow flex,

its the company deflex has become,
ive just bought front anti roll bar and front shock top mount bushes from them in polybush,

they also do rear beam mount and rear shock top mounts in polly bush.

if your seriouse about getting on the track, fit two rear anto roll bars and box ection the rear beam, this will get you lifting the inside rear wheel a treat.

also, dial the toe in for positive turn in,.
look at rose jointed or uprated front tie rod arms, and replace the anto roll bar drop links for new ones.

you can also fit the lower front strut brace from an xr3i mk5 which is alot stronger.

also, the zetec s rear beam is worth looking at for extra rear track and rear disks? this way you dont run a rear anto roll bar at all.

i do like the idea of going to town with the fiesta, but at the same time its more of a budget car for the misses so she can have some fun aswell while im out on track.

but cheers for the extra insight of some bits to do.

its not a 1600 mate its got a 2.0 mondeo lump in it and an S1 turbo lsd box with uprated mainshaft and bearings, gaz coilovers, cossie front brakes.

will the standard 1600 manifold be ok with the egr blanked off? or do you think an ashley one would be beneficial?

also can i have the number for the guy who does the lower arms i deffo want a pair of them soon. and strut braces.

cheers lads

ashley ones are shite to really,

ive got 1600 manifold with egr welded up, and tbh ,for the minimal difference it made, wish id kept it, cus fuck me my car licks fuel now.

st170 manifold is good,

and xs manifolds makea nice one for it to.
go on ebayy andlook for stainless manifolds, theres some pukka ones on there,
i think steve with the red focus with the black bonnet got one for his car, loooked good.

what inlet you using, and does your car hunt at idle, my 2.0si does, so does my mates, tried loadsof different mafs aswell
