Default car cut out and wouldnt restart for about an hour?

fooking whanky FRST cut out on me this evening up town!
wouldnt restart, just didnt want to even try to fire. (has done it a few times similar)

had to call recovery.. fella came look at it.... fiddled around here and there... he was saying there was intermittant spark and that feed to the ignition was dodgy.

BUT... he had the jump leads connected for a while well he was doing all this... and when i tried to start the car afterwards it went.

i messed and wriggled the wiring with the car running and couldnt get it to cut out or anything?

anyone any ideas what it could be? i was suspecting battery or maybe alternator. and maybe i flooded it then trying to start it...

doesnt quite explain why it cut out in first place though.

Had this with a dizzy cap which wasnt fitted right on my S2, and as Sean said they get hot and fail. Mine was sorted with new cap & rotor arm.

LOL Now you know why I particularly dislike ofab/c. It really is a shite management even when it works, but in general its just crap and usually does fail!

not sure on crank sensor??
quite likely in terms of symptoms id say...
but was bit weird how it went after... unless its maybe wiring to the CPS?

thats what the rather confused guy from Midlands first suggested once he'd got his head around what car/engine etc it was!! lol

I work for Midlands

what did the guy look like who came out to you? (it could even have been me ) how long ago was it?

best thing to do is make a note of what the resistance/voltages etc should be and next time it happens set upon it with a test meter whilst its still not working!

ah I know you work for them hence i mentioned it! lol I dont think it was you.

it was sunday night up festival park I was just driving through honest! lol trying to confuse people with a chattering mk2 fiesta! lol

the guy who come out vaguely resembled alexi sayle and said he was into range rovers.

i was surprised midland came actually, britannia must just sub out! was quite happy with service of that actually! - was weird cos they rang me back and it came up midland recovery from when I had it stored from matt and dan and skinny working there.

the wiring is very weak and not to well done on the car. i'll have to go through it properly

i'll have to ring up more often then!! lol

when i've had trouble before I usually get some mates to tow me home etc etc or just leave the car where it is etc.

was first time id had to call them...
i was like... erm ive broke down and could do with some assistance.

they laughed and said... thats what we're here for!! lol

and then midland rang me and turned up pretty quick! quite impressed!

i still reckon more alexi sayle thatn miaggi but reckon i can see what you mean!!

has it got the ignition amplifier module on the side of the dizzy.

Change that- The symptoms are the same as one of those failing.
