Default WELL SURPRSIDED TODAY RE AMG!!!!!

.....It needs front and rear discs and pads....og's lasted for 41000miles.

Phoned Merc...the result:-

Front discs which are 380mm £80 each inc VAT
Front pads for 8pot calipers £170 pair inc VAT
Rear discs which are big £60 each inc VAT
Rear pads for 4pot calipers £65 pair inc vat

So around £480 for the whole lot...looking at AP prices i was expecting around £1500...so big up Merc for making my 500bhp Merc affordable to a geezer who lives in a semi

My friend has an SL with the same calipers - interestingly you need two pairs for each of the front calipers, though I believe the price submitted gives you the requisite number of pads.

The SL eats discs. My mate is convince that Merc are subsidising the cost of them as a result! All good!!!

Mind you - if it was a proper sports car, you would have handed discs for better cooling like the M cars

Good news

In all seriousness - awsome car mate - glad you finally bought a real one

I was mega impressed with my mates - I wholeheartedly recommend the DMS stage one conversion - turns an already fast car into a fucking rocket ship!!!

I can believe that - I believe my mates with the pulley wheels change and the chip change performs provides 580 odd bhp.

IIRC the pulley wheel change and map that is used is very very similar to that used on the Merc CLK Special editition DTM style one.

Ideal for annoying those cossies you just cant shake!

That's the spirit!!!! LOL

To be fair, as you say it is already a very very quick car, but the cars electronics are sooo good, it deals with the extra power with comparative ease.

Apparently the biggest improvement is the midrange punch! We have timed his 0-100 after the conversion at 9.3 odd secs with timing gear!

Yes that would make sense the E is quite a lot lighter IIRC.

Does go to show how much can be gained from a simple conversion!

I drove the SL around the Nurburgring - it was rather good I have to say (and this is from a former AMG cynic as you know )

..i was surprised abouth the use of alluminium in the e class to lower weight but much safer than the W210 version due to stronger chassis.

I have to say its awesome..especially the Harmon Kardon Pro Logic 7 sound system

All good matey - I can well understand the appeal of this car. I would be tempted myself, though at the mo I am toying with going a little bonkers and buying a 996 Turbo.

I need to work a little harder though and earn a few quid before it becomes viable at the mo.

Phil if the pads and discs are made by ATE then might be worth giving Euro car parts a call.

Its a shame they don't have the same policy with exhausts. I need 2 new cats for my E55 amg and phoned Mercedes for a price. £1750 + Vat Each!! Over 4k for two cats

Suffice to say that they are still knocking
