To: All the doubters who have been wispering that my engine has never ran full boost because it will blow up... you know who you are!

Is 2.4 bar and a held 8200 rpm good enough?

Superb stuff

I havent been whispering anything to anyone so not really who this topic was aimed at no doubt, but even still I have certainly had doubts about how well the different materials are going to interact as they heat and cool over a period of time.

Take it that it was fucking flying then?

Will this be the limit or just a safe level to run for the engine...

So did you get a top speed run out of it? If so are you prepared to disclose what you reached?

Even if not, it would be interesting to hear what the speed at half a mile was and stuff like that

Like I know Rods does 180mph at .5 miles, so people would no doubt find it interesting if it was quicker or slower than that and how much by

Bet you were grinning like a schoolboy to finally be able to use it to its full potential Martin?

By quick gear ratio calcs, Martin should have just achieved his aim . Obviously if he wanted them published, he would have said, so you'll have to work it out yourself .

Well done Martin, was a long time coming .

"a held 8200rpm" does indeed sound like it was in top gear, as in any other gear it wouldnt be "holding" 8200, it would be accelerating like buggery still.

I suspect you have read a little too much into the wording though mike.

Either way, with that sort of boost at that sort of RPM its going to be QUICK by any standards

it could imply that the 8200 rpm was held on the brakes, the rev limit or on a chassis dyno - or it could imply that the boost was held at that level up until that rpm.

don't make assumptions is the key here, i suspect

Rev limit?
I doubt he would hold his car on the rev limiter

Chassis Dyno?
They were at brunters

On the brakes, or held upto that rpm and worded slightly weirdly?
Very possibly hence my comment to mike not to read too much into just how it was worded

We will just have to wait till the magazine is out then, unless Martin gives us any more stats.

Top car and balls to go back there after just having it all fixed from the last visit if the speed run was attempted.

he was at brunters, but doesn't say that this was done there. rightly or wrongly, you are assuming again

he will either tell the whole story or won't, not much point us guessing

Indeed, it will do what it can at some point, and sometime after Martin will tell us about it if he wants to.

Im "interested" but not "bothered" as its not something I could ever afford/justify to do myself so I wont ever be competing with Martin or following in his footsteps personally.

I think its fantastic though that Martin is pushing the YB boundaries, along with the MAD camp and some of the foreign lads, it can only be good for the scene as a whole

I was taking the piss you spazzo .

Well done for getting to 8200 in first gear, I'm sure if that was all you did that the MAD lot will see that as a HUGE achievement and come along and congratulate you for hitting 65mph, as that would REALLY have been pushing your block to it's absolute limit and would be a real test of it's capabilities .

Ben,
The full report will be in the magazine . Obviously Martin couldn't help himself and was justifiably proud enough of his achievement to post what he has, as the MAD camp have posted numerous time how they don't think it will take any more than 1.5 bar of boost without letting go .
